The Psychology Of Wealth

How Your Familiars Trap You In The Rat Race

Wealth isn’t hard. Breaking the habits of a lifetime is.

The Mechanics Are The Easy Part

The mechanics of wealth are pretty simple. All the strategies, the learning and the support you need are out there.

All you have to do is put yourself in a more fertile environment — the right room.

The only hard part is breaking the habits of a lifetime that keep you from getting there.

Not Enough Discomfort?

Most people complain about their lot in life. But most of them aren’t uncomfortable enough to seriously change anything.

So they drift. They swap complaints about the rat race with each other, while doing the exact same things that keep them in it.

Think about that term for a second. The rat race. The smartest species on the planet, comparing itself to lab rats running for their lives. Most people are too busy with the race to even think about getting out of the maze.

The Retreat To Comfort

Push someone out to the edge of what they know and discomfort bubbles up from deep inside. Every step further out, the ground feels less solid. More turbulence. More confusion. Their whole view of how things work starts to wobble.

For most people, losing that certainty is horrible, because there’s nothing familiar to hang on to.

A few rise to the challenge. Most don’t. They retreat to what they know — to security, comfort and certainty.

That’s why you don’t out-discipline the familiar. You out-room it. Surround yourself with people for whom the edge is familiar, and the retreat stops looking so appealing.
