Interpreting Results

Say you want to make a sponge cake.

The method is known. The ingredients are known. The order you put them in is known. So you can learn it.

Follow the recipe — right ingredients, right order — and you get a sponge cake.

Now say you chuck the flour in after it’s come out of the oven. You still get a result. It’s just not a sponge cake.

Here’s what matters: how you interpret that result.

Two Ways To Read The Same Result

When it comes to money, most of us have been trained to run what I call the Consumption Code. It teaches you to see any imperfect result as a failure — proof you’re no good with money, proof it’s not for people like you.

That way of reading results keeps you trapped. Every setback becomes a reason to go back to what’s familiar.

The Enterprise Code reads the same result completely differently. It asks: what happened, what order did I do things in, and what do I change next time?

One code shuts you down. The other one moves you forward.

What The Mat Teaches You

In the dojo, getting caught in sparring isn’t failure. It’s information. You got hit because your guard dropped, or your timing was off, or you did the right thing in the wrong order.

Nobody quits karate because they got caught once. They fix the thing and go again.

Money is exactly the same. A deal that falls over, an investment that dips, a month where the numbers don’t add up — that’s not the end. It’s the flour going in at the wrong time. Change the sequence and go again.

Your Move

Think of your last money “failure”. Write down three things: what you did, what order you did it in, and the one thing you’d change. That’s the Enterprise Code at work.
