The Psychology Of Wealth

Are You Secretly Scared Of Wealth?

Every change asks the same thing of you: the guts to walk away from what you know.

New Possibilities

The writer and thinker David La Chapelle described the edges of our comfort zones as zones of turmoil — where new possibilities explode in every direction.

Every change takes you from sure to unsure — from what you know to what you don’t. The road to wealth is no different.

That’s why it’s often called a hero’s journey. You leave familiar ground for unfamiliar territory, where your old way of seeing things — and your old way of predicting things — starts to fall apart.

That’s where courage comes in. Because the moment you seriously change the conditions of your life, you get different outcomes. And when you do, your old patterns and strategies simply stop working.

Unknown And Scary

The edge of your comfort zone is unfamiliar. It’s unknown, and it’s scary.

Comfort is familiar, and familiar feels certain — and certainty is one of the most powerful motivators we’ve got. People who are driven by certainty will always default back to the familiar. They resist change by holding on to old patterns.

Certainty feels like reassurance. Like pleasure, dependability and knowing what’s going on. What most people fear more than anything is losing that feeling — because it’s wired deep into them.

It Takes Courage To Leave

If you’ve got a high need for certainty, there’s very little chance of change — because change, by definition, is uncertain. It shakes up the way you’ve organised your life. Any talk of real change feels like an attack on the familiar, and gets met with resistance.

Certainty means doing the same things over and over because it’s comforting. You might complain about your money results — but at least they’re familiar, and you know how to keep producing them.
